Join us for a toe-tapping good time as we perform some of the world’s most beloved dance music, from Strauss’ Thunder and Lightning Polka to Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5, Gould’s Latin American Symphonette and Offenbach’s famous Can-Can . Selections by Bernstein, Boccherini, Bizet, Tchaikovsky and other great composers round out the evening’s dance card (um, program).

Even if the weather outside is frightful, we promise music that is delightful. Our annual holiday concert features the sounds of the season, including classical and pops favorites and maybe even a couple of surprises. (Hint: “Ho Ho Ho.”)  The Centennial High School combined choirs are our special guests, and our principal cellist Lorie Scherer performs Morricone’s haunting “Gabriel’s Oboe” with the orchestra.

Whether it’s a beautiful blue river, a fierce rainstorm or an endless expanse of sea, water in all its forms is the inspiration for some wonderful music. We feature selections with a water theme, including a suite from Handel’s Water Music, “The Storm” from Beethoven’s “Pastorale” Symphony, Korngold’s “The Sea Hawk,”  Strauss’ “Blue Danube” and more.

Hear the musical stars of tomorrow as we feature winners of our annual Young Artists Competition performing solos with the orchestra. Also on the program: the American premiere of Kaoru Wada’s “Century of Light,” composed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Nikon; Dvorak’s Finale to Symphony No. 8 ;  “Javelin” by American composer Michael Torke and more.
