We perform some of the world’s best-loved music by Rossini, Beethoven, Barber, Strauss and Dvorak, plus Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” with soloist Del Parkinson. All selections were suggested by orchestra and audience members.

Celebrate the season with holiday classics old and new, including excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker,” Krogstad’s “The Bells of Christmas” and the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s “Messiah” with special guests the Centennial High School Choir.

We shine the spotlight on some of our country’s most revered composers with selections from Bernstein’s “Candide,” Copland’s “The Tender Land” and Grofe’s “Grand Canyon Suite,” plus a lighthearted take on “Turkey in the Straw.”

Music from around the world, including Saint-Saens’ “Dance Macabre,” Wolfram’s “Colonial Scenes” and the Finale from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 are on the program. Winners of our Young Artists Competition also perform solos with the Symphony.

The family friendly free concert, part of the City of Meridian’s annual Gene Kleiner Day, will feature some of the orchestra’s “greatest hits.” Bring a picnic, a blanket or a chair and enjoy!
